Independent Medical Biller (Remote | Flexible Schedule | 1099 Contractor)

ALIF Spine Access, LLC is a specialized surgical practice focused on providing anterior lumbar spine access services for orthopedic spine surgeons and neurosurgeons. We are seeking an experienced independent medical biller to partner with our growing practice.

About the Opportunity

This is an ideal position for an experienced biller who enjoys working directly with physicians and prefers a flexible, low-volume practice rather than a large billing company environment.

Current case volume is approximately 5–15 surgical cases per month, with opportunities for growth as the practice expands.

Responsibilities

• Submit and track surgical claims

• Review coding and documentation for billing accuracy

• Follow up on denied, delayed, and unpaid claims

• Manage appeals and payer communications

• Post payments and reconcile accounts

• Monitor accounts receivable and aging reports

• Identify opportunities to improve collections and reduce denials

• Provide periodic revenue cycle reports and recommendations

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of medical billing experience

• Experience with surgical billing required

• Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and modifier usage

• Experience with commercial insurance claims and appeals

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred Experience

• General surgery, spine surgery, orthopedic surgery, or neurosurgery billing

• Assistant surgeon billing

• Independent contractor or private practice billing experience

• Independent Contractor (1099)
